Filippo Lanza and Radostin Stoytchev, Trentino Volley Captain and Coach during a time out

Trento, December 3rd, 2015

The discussion related to 2016 CEV Volleyball Champions League DenizBank has been put aside, at least until December 16th (the date of the return match against Tours in France); after the great home victory of Wednesday evening in European field, Diatec Trentino can get back to focus exclusively on Super League UnipolSai 2015/16.
Within eight days, between December 5th and 13th, the champions of Italy will play a triptych of important games that will put the seal on the first round of the regular season; the ranking that will derive will determine the pairings for the quarterfinals of Del Monte Italian Cup. Therefore, the nine points still up for grabs are crucial in the race for the best possible placing;  from this point of view Lanza and his teammates shall do overtime, because they will be the only one of the top five teams of the ranking faced two direct clashes: on December 8th in Verona against Calzedonia, fourth with the same points (17) and then five days later against Lube in the only home match of this final stage of the round. The closest commitment, however, is on Saturday evening at PalaBorsani Castellanza (Varese), where at 6.00 pm (broadcasted live on Radio Dolomiti and on www.sportube.tv) will take place the match against Revivre Milano of the former Burgsthaler and of the new setter Boninfante, who will curiously face the Yellow-blues for the second time in six days with two different jerseys (until Tuesday was the director of Latina).
"Our tour de force continues” - said Pippo Lanza commenting the December calendar of Trentino Volley - “but we are used to play so much because of the fact it is since the Italian Super Cup final that we play every three days. Obviously there's fatigue, but we have to see the positive aspect of the situation. More games we play the more chance we have of bringing home victories. We will be working in the same way on Saturday in the challenge in Milano home, an event in which we can not afford to lose more ground from the summit."
The ranking sees Diatec Trentino three points away from the first place occupied by Modena and Lube; a restrained gap considering also the training problems, with which Stoytchev’s team has had to deal. "But from now on we will have an extra Urnaut who will give us a big hand as happened in the match against Tours” - continued the captain. -”I'm happy for Tine, I guarantee you that it isn’t easy to stay in the pits for so long and see your team win or lose helplessly. He deserved to return early because he is a fighter, not only a very talented player; we know we have one more resource. Against the French maybe we haven’t played our best volleyball, but we did well to do well at least the simple things."
For Lanza is has been a satisfaction the victory against the French, another important goal of his precocious career with Trentino Volley: thanks to thirteen points scored on Wednesday, the spiker from Verona has indeed exceeded 1,500 career points with the jersey of the Club of Via Trener, becoming the youngest athlete ever to reach it with Trento. Before Pippo there are just Kaziyski (absolute leader of this particular ranking with 4.812 points), Juantorena (2.662), Birarelli (2.539) and Stokr (1.997). With Milano he will have the possibility of further increase his tally; ahead of the match in Lombardy, the team has started the training this afternoon and on Friday there will be a session of two hours in the morning before leaving for Castellanza.
